Little Pearl is the first book in the Amber's Pony Tales Series.
Have you ever wanted something really badly, then got it and wished you had something else?
This is exactly what happens to Amber Anderson. She's always longed for a pony of her own and when her parents buy Pearl, her favourite pony from the riding school, all her wishes come true. For a while...
Then she meets Joanne and her fiery show-jumper, Flash. Suddenly Amber is jealous and wonders if Pearl really is the pony of her dreams after all.
Only in the aftermath of a terrible accident does Amber finally realise that Pearl truly is a special pony.
Little Pearl really did exist - she was my first pony and our adventures together inspired me to create stories to share what I learned from our time together. Pearl was a huge influence in my life as a child: she taught me about commitment, perseverance and patience. She was my best friend and although she wouldn't always do what I wanted, I discovered that I could always trust her to look after me. And of course, she showed me that ponies, like people, are individuals with their own personalities, strengths and weaknesses.
This is a brilliant book…..A book about friendship and horse loving girls. I loved every page of it and couldn’t pick a favourite bit as it was such a good story throughout. I recommend this to any child or adult who loves horses, I would rate it 12 out of 10!

'Little Pearl' is an amazing book and I hope that Helen Haraldsen writes a series based on this story! This story is all about ponies, friendship and fun with a dramatic twist! It has great characters. Amber is a very realistic character and I feel as if I know her very well. I really enjoyed this book and will be looking out for more by this author. Maia, age 10
I loved the book Little Pearl. I read half of it in one night and stayed up until midnight because I didn't want to put it down! I would like to know if you have any more books like Little Pearl. Sophie M
I took your book away on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it! You write very well. I know very little about the world of pony riding and I thought you told a good story which was cleverly instructive at the same time.' Liz Nuttall, Publisher at Handstand Press
I've just read your book while on a flight to Canada. It was a lovely story, full of memories of growing up as a pony mad child, but with an important lesson for children to learn at the same time. Ros Canter, World Champion Three Day Eventer
I enjoyed Little Pearl, and really connected with its message about ponies needing to be treated with respect as individuals. It is a thoughtful, realistic story which places respect for ponies right at its heart. Sheena Wilkinson, award winning author
