Well, if the horses got a page for themselves, the dogs need one too! They're always with Helen when she's writing whether it's in the house, down the garden, on holiday...wherever she is, that's where they are!

LUCY
Lucy was an eight year-old Dalmatian. It's funny Helen ended up with a Dalmatian as, when she was young, she used to read Dodie Smith's 101 Dalmatians back to back: She'd finish it and then read it again. It's one of her favourite books.
Lucy liked to chat and could even smile. Her favourite hobby was posing, as you can see! Sadly, Lucy passed away suddenly in April 2020 and is very much missed. In 2019, Helen started writing a book called The Dalmatian That Lost its Spots. Sadly, Lucy died before the book was completed, but it is now finished in memory of her. |
PETRA
Petra is a seven year-old pointer. Jeremy Strong wrote a book called The Hundred Mile an Hour Dog and that's Petra. She is constantly busy exploring and always has to have something in her mouth. She particularly loves shoes, socks and slippers when in the house, and outside she seems particularly drawn to Lucozade bottles. This is quite funny since it's an energy drink and she's got energy to burn!

The best of friends
Lady Bluebell (Bella)
After losing Lucy, the family couldn't cope without a spotty dog in their lives and so they welcomed this little girl to come and join them. She's now three years old and is a very big character who loves life. She wags her tail all the time and smiles likes Lucy did. She and Petra have become good friends and Helen likes to think that Lucy is looking down on her and wishing her a happy life. When Bella was small, she wore Lucy's puppy collar!
