"I purchased this book for myself to study since I am an aspiring children's book author with a focus on animal stories.
The story is well written and charmingly illustrated. I quickly found myself immersed in the story. Despite the fact that this book is the second in a series, I found that it easily stands alone. Although, be forewarned, you will want to read the previous book and the sequel if you have not done so already!
The author draws attention to the real-life issues of dog theft and bad breeding practices. She clearly has knowledge of various breeds and their attributes which really enhanced the story. I appreciate the subtle life lessons that are conveyed along the way. As the main dog character learns, so will the child reader...the value of perseverance, loyalty, and most importantly...the advantages and strengths of our differences.
It is a very enjoyable story in itself but it also serves to create awareness and possibly inspire young animal activists. I love that!" Avid Reader
